When it comes to cultural entertainment, London has some shortcomings – a fact that is evident in the breathtaking city calendar of theater, music and dance, not talk about your reception spectacular concert halls and event venues – one of the most iconic and versatile of these is the Royal Albert Hall. Inspired by the success Prince Albert's Great Exhibition, the Royal Albert Hall was opened in 1871 – ten years after the death of Prince. Being largely by ancient amphitheatres and notions of the arts, the walls of terra cotta oval structure on the exterior decorated with a frieze dedicated to "The Triumph of Arts and Sciences. Today, the place remains an impressive testimony to the architectural and aesthetic achievements of the past and the technological advances of today, but even with the largest organ of the pipe in the British Isles.
The Royal Albert Hall hosts a wide variety of entertainment events including classical music, rock, pop and jazz, sporting events, galas, banquets and dances and the famous Proms in the series. It has a capacity of 8000, but is usually full of crowds during the summer months, when the Promenade concerts take over. Thus, visitors have the option of queuing on the day of an event in order to get cheaper, last minute tickets for the seat less "Gods" level (the highest level in the room), or to book in advance for seats front.
The Royal Albert Hall has a year-line Round-Up of traditional and contemporary theater, music and dance. Upcoming performances include: the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, 15 March, the spectacular classic 2007 of March 22 to March 25 and the Cathcart Spring Prom concert on May 17. There's even a ballroom Dancing Championships event to be held in the fall!
If you are planning to attend an event at the Royal Albert Hall in London, be sure to book a hotel in South Kensington. In this way, you are near the headquarters and you are still well connected to other major London attractions including Hyde Park, Kensington Palace, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Museum of Natural History. Moreover, de South Kensington is located just off Knightsbridge, which, being the home of Harrods and exclusively to Harvey Nichols department store is one of London's main shopping districts.
