Question about strikeout and wild pitch / State moved the ball?
Recently I watched a game of the MLB. There were runners on 1st and 2nd with two outs. The batter grounded out beaten but the ball went out of the receiver and the batter running to first to load the bases. I thought if I had a runner on first, the batter who struck out could not run to first on a passed ball / wild pitch, it is automatically out. Where is the rule in this situation?
How you think of Rule 6.05 (c) the batter is out even if the ball enters the receiver and first base is occupied before two are out. Rule 6.09 (b) The batter becomes a runner when "The third strike called by the umpire is not caught, providing (1) first base is unoccupied, or the first base (2) is occupied with two outs, when there are two outs and first base is occupied the batter becomes a runner when the third strike is not "legally" caught by the receiver.
